Recycling Rate
Bryant currently has a recycling rate of 20.25%. Bryant's goals for recycling would be to maintain and increase our recycling percentage and reduce our waste. One way this is accomplished is through students willing to continuously be involved in sustainability.
Student Participation
Improving student participation in Recylemania will help get students on board with the university's green mission. A future goal for Bryant University has is to achieve a top 100 finish for Recyclemania next year.
Developing Sustainability Courses
By working with faculty in every department at Bryant, the university could move forward to create more sustainability-focused courses. For example, the Marketing Department could expand its offerings in sustainability marketing. These classes will not only show students the fundamentals of creating a greener future, but they will also arm students with the tools needed to practice their skills on campus today.
Staying Green
As the University Expand, more opportunities will arise to stay "green". One such example is the new East West Connection Building. Under the recommendation of Professor Langlois, this building could potentially be a fully operating green building.
Outreach to Local Community/Media
By expanding Bryant's reporting of sustainability on campus we will be able to increase outreach to the community. Recently a weekly "Sustainability" column has been included in the on campus newspaper The Archway. Bryant could take their communication efforts one step further by incorporating on campus sustainability efforts/activities to be broadcast through the university's radio station WJMF Radio 88.7 "The Beat of Bryant".
